What is cosmetic dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry is concerned with the appearance of the teeth and smile: colour, shape, size and how the teeth relate to one another. Aesthetics is never separate from health — a good result is only possible on healthy teeth and gums, with a stable bite.
A good cosmetic result does not look "done". That is why we do not start from a template of the perfect smile, but from your face, lips, tooth shape and what bothers you. Sometimes whitening is enough, sometimes a veneer is needed, and sometimes the best answer is moving the teeth orthodontically.
We favour treatments that preserve as much of your own tooth as possible. Irreversible steps, such as preparing enamel for veneers, are considered only when it is clear that a less invasive solution cannot achieve the desired result.

- you are preparing for an important event and want a brighter smile
Treatments
Cosmetic treatments in detail
The procedure and aftercare for veneers, whitening and clear aligners.

Porcelain veneers
Thin ceramic veneers that change the shape, colour and proportions of your front teeth — made to measure for your smile, preserving as much of your own tooth as possible.

Teeth whitening
A brighter smile without drilling and without changing the shape of your teeth — at home with custom-made trays or in the clinic under professional supervision.

Clear aligners
Gradually straightening teeth with a series of clear trays — discreet, and removable for eating and brushing.

Diagnostics and approach
A smile analysis before any change
A cosmetic plan starts with checking the health of the teeth and gums and assessing the bite. Decay, gum inflammation or bite problems are treated before any cosmetic procedure — otherwise the result cannot last.
We then look at the smile as a whole: the lip line, how much tooth shows when speaking and smiling, and tooth colour and shape in relation to the face. Based on this, we suggest the least invasive solution that can achieve what you want, and explain what each option can — and cannot — do.
Health before aesthetics
Decay and gum inflammation are treated before cosmetic work.
Least invasive first
Whitening or orthodontics before preparing teeth, whenever possible.
In harmony with your face
Tooth shape and colour are planned around your face and lips, not a template.
Whitening, veneers or aligners?
Three different approaches solve different problems. A general overview — we make a final recommendation after the examination.
| — | Whitening | Veneers | Clear aligners |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it addresses | Tooth colour | Colour, shape, length and small gaps | Tooth position |
| Tooth preparation | No | Usually minimal, depending on the case | No |
| Treatment time | One visit or several weeks at home | Several appointments | Depends on the case |
| Longevity | Colour gradually returns, but not fully to the original | Long-lasting with care | With a retainer to keep the position |
Solutions can be combined — for example, whitening before veneers so the veneers are made in a lighter shade.

+385 99 268 6537Which is better — whitening or veneers?
It depends on what bothers you. If the only issue is colour, whitening is the least invasive option. Veneers come into consideration when shape or length also needs changing, small gaps need closing, or the colour does not respond to whitening.
Do teeth need to be ground down for veneers?
Usually a thin layer of enamel is removed, depending on the case. The refractory technique allows very thin veneers. The extent of preparation is set in your plan.
How long does whitening take?
In-office whitening takes one visit; take-home whitening takes several days to several weeks, as instructed. Over time the colour of the teeth gradually returns, but not completely to the original shade. The result can be refreshed.
Can I straighten my teeth without fixed braces?
In many cases, yes — with clear aligners. Whether they suit your case and how long treatment would take is assessed at the examination.
Why do I need a retainer after aligners?
Teeth tend to move back towards their original position. A retainer keeps the result after orthodontic treatment ends.
Do fillings and crowns whiten too?
No. Whitening only works on natural teeth, so visible fillings or crowns are sometimes replaced after whitening so the colour matches.
Will the result look natural?
That is our main goal. Shape and colour are planned around your face and lips, and checked together with you before the final work.
